Privacy policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Snorfles collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It covers the Snorfles website and the Snorfles mobile app (together, the “Service”).

Snorfles is operated by Ferroni Holdings, LLC (“Snorfles,” “we,” “us”), 1500 N Grant St, Ste R, Denver, CO 80203, USA. For the purposes of the US state privacy laws, Ferroni Holdings, LLC is the controller (or business) responsible for your personal information. You can reach us about privacy at hello@snorfles.com.

Who uses Snorfles

Snorfles is a record-keeping tool for people who foster animals for shelters and rescues. The people with accounts are fosters and the members of their household, who share the animal records, the daily log, and the photos and videos in that household.

Shelter and rescue coordinators do not have accounts. When you send a coordinator a report, they receive it as a file or a private link addressed to their organization — there is no coordinator login, and we do not build a profile of them.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Account and identity information — the email address and name you provide, and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile details they share (such as email, name, and avatar). We store passwords only as a salted hash, never in the clear.
  • Authentication and device information — sign-in tokens and a record of the devices signed in to your account, so we can keep you signed in and let you revoke a lost device.
  • Foster records you create — the animals you track and everything you log about them: weights, medications, notes, intake and adoption paperwork, and other daily-log entries. This is the content of your account and is shared with the other members of your household.
  • Photos and video — images and clips you upload of the animals you foster, along with the metadata attached to them.
  • Coordinator and organization information — the shelter or rescue organization you address a report to, and the contact address you send it to.
  • Subscription information — if you buy a paid plan, we receive a confirmation from the Apple App Store or Google Play that your subscription is active. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number; the app stores process the payment.
  • Usage and technical information — information created automatically when you use the Service, such as your IP address, device and browser type, and log data, including information collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies and tracking technologies below).
  • Communications — messages you send us, such as support requests.

You do not have to give us foster records, photos, or video, but the Service will not be useful without them — keeping those records is what Snorfles is for.

Where the information comes from

We get personal information from:

  • you, directly, when you create an account and use the Service;
  • Google or Apple, if you choose to sign in with them, limited to the basic profile they share;
  • the Apple App Store or Google Play, when they confirm a subscription; and
  • your devices and browsers automatically, through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • create and operate your account and authenticate you;
  • store, sync, and display the foster records, photos, and video you create;
  • generate the reports and the “Year in Fostering” wrap-up you ask for;
  • deliver a report to a coordinator when you send one;
  • process subscriptions and enforce plan entitlements;
  • respond to your support requests and send you service-related messages;
  • keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and diagnose and fix problems; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal information, foster records, photos, or video to train machine-learning or AI models, ours or anyone else’s.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep you signed in and keep the Service working; these cannot be turned off. We also use analytics (PostHog) to understand how the Service is used, and we may add advertising technologies to measure our marketing. PostHog loads with capture disabled and starts capturing only after you accept in our cookie banner; any advertising technologies load only after you accept them. You can change your choice at any time from the banner (the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer re-opens it) or by contacting us.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser or a browser extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the “sale” and “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising for that browser.

How we share your information

We do not sell your foster records, photos, or video. We share personal information only as described here:

  • Service providers (processors) that run the Service on our behalf and may process personal information only on our instructions, including cloud hosting and compute, database hosting, object storage for photos and video, email delivery, bot and abuse protection, product analytics, and sign-in providers. Our current providers include Amazon Web Services (hosting and email delivery through Amazon SES), Neon (database), Cloudflare (object storage, network security, and content delivery), PostHog (product analytics), and Google and Apple (sign-in and app-store subscriptions).
  • Speech recognition for voice weigh-in — if you turn on the voice weigh-in in the web app, your browser’s speech recognition service turns what you say into text. In Chrome and Edge that audio is sent to Google or Microsoft and handled under their privacy policies; Safari may process it on your device or send it to Apple. Snorfles receives only the resulting text, never the audio. Our servers keep only the weight you save. When you tap an animal to correct a name the recognizer misheard, the text it heard is kept in your browser’s local storage as a spelling for that animal, on that device only, until you clear the site’s data. The microphone is on only while the mic button is active. Spoken replies use your browser’s text-to-speech; some voices (for example Google’s in Chrome) send the text of the reply, such as an animal’s name and weight, to that provider to generate the audio, and the voice picker lets you choose a different one.
  • Coordinators you choose — when you send a report, the animal records and media you include in it go to the organization and address you choose. You control what is in a report and where it goes.
  • Advertising and analytics partners — if we add the analytics and advertising technologies described above, they may share limited identifiers and usage information with the partners that provide them. Depending on your state, this may be considered “sharing” of personal information or “targeted advertising” (we do not sell personal information for money). You can opt out — see Your privacy rights.
  • Legal and safety — when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Snorfles, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

Sensitive information and children

Snorfles is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 to use it, and the adult (18 or older) who owns a household account is responsible for any household member aged 13 to 17 they add. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

The records you keep are about the animals you foster, not medical or other sensitive information about a person. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for the purposes that would require an opt-out or opt-in under state law beyond what is described in this policy. Where a state requires it, we will not process a known minor’s personal information for targeted advertising or sale without the consent that the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, then delete or de-identify it. When you close your account we delete your account and its foster records; some information may remain in backups for a limited period and in records we must keep to meet legal obligations. Photos and video are deleted when you delete them or when your account is closed, subject to the same backup window.

How we protect it

We use technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, tenant scoping so one household cannot read another’s records, and revocable device sessions. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Where your information is processed

We store and process personal information in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information. We honor these requests regardless of your state, except where a law requires us to treat a state’s residents differently.

  • Know / access — to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to get a copy of it.
  • Correct — to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete — to delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Portability — to get a copy of certain information in a portable format.
  • Opt out — to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, of targeted advertising, and of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Snorfles does not use your information for profiling of that kind.
  • Limit sensitive information — to limit our use of sensitive personal information, where a state provides this right.
  • Non-discrimination — to not be discriminated against for exercising a right. We will not deny you the Service, charge a different price, or give you a lower quality of service for exercising a privacy right. As a reminder, the foster report and the “Year in Fostering” wrap-up are never behind a paywall.

How to exercise your rights

Email us at hello@snorfles.com to make a request. You can update your account details and delete your account yourself from your account page at any time; for a portable copy of your information, email us. To opt out of analytics and advertising, use the cookie banner (the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer re-opens it) or send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser.

We will verify your request by confirming you control the account’s email address, and may ask for more information if we cannot verify you that way. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may ask the agent for proof of your permission and may still ask you to verify your identity directly.

We respond within the time the applicable law requires — generally within 45 days, with an extension where the law allows. There is no charge for a request unless it is excessive or repetitive, as permitted by law.

Appeals

If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing hello@snorfles.com with the subject line “Privacy appeal.” We will respond to your appeal within the time your state requires (in Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, and several other states, within 45 to 60 days) and explain our reasoning. If we deny your appeal, several states let you contact your state attorney general to complain.

State-specific disclosures

California. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information described in Information we collect (identifiers; internet and device activity; audio, visual, and electronic information in your photos and video; commercial information about your subscription; and the account content you create). We disclose these categories to the service providers listed above to run the Service. If we add advertising technologies, we may “share” identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which you can opt out of. We do not sell personal information for money. California residents may exercise the rights above, may designate an authorized agent, and have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment.

Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws. You have the rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, and certain profiling. In Colorado and Connecticut we honor the Global Privacy Control as a universal opt-out mechanism. You may appeal a denied request as described under Appeals.

Nevada. Nevada residents may direct us not to sell certain personal information. We do not sell personal information as Nevada defines it, but you may still submit a request to hello@snorfles.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
